Books on Providence, 2011

These three books on providence, scheduled for publication in 2011, have caught my eye.

First up is John H. Wright, Divine Providence in the Bible: Meeting the Living and True God, Vol. 2: New Testament, which Amazon.co.uk lists as being available from the end of January. I've already obtained the first volume, which looks, astonishingly enough, at providence in the Old Testament. I plan to read both together when I've bought Volume 2.

Next is Four Views on Providence, scheduled for publication in mid-March, featuring contributions from William Lane Craig and Gregory Boyd. The blurb on Amazon.com mentions that the four views on providence are organised around predestination and atonement, so it will be interesting to see how the contributors relate providence to these other two doctrines.

Finally, my friend Christopher Green is publishing his Ph.D thesis under the title Doxological Theology: Karl Barth on Divine Providence, Evil and the Angels. It seems to me that secondary literature on Barth's account of providence is sparse, so Chris's volume is most welcome. Expect a review one day, though not until at least November!
