About Providence, Divine Action and the Church

In this blog, Terry J. Wright posts thoughts and shares research on the Christian doctrine of providence. This doctrine testifies to God’s provision for all things through creation’s high priest, the man Christ Jesus. However, the precise meaning and manner of this provision is a perpetually open question, and this blog is a forum for discussion of the many issues relating to providence and the place of the Church within God’s action.

Conference: God and Sport

It's only in Jesus that we see man united...
Here's another conference that I've been asked to advertise:

God and Sport
Holy Trinity Brompton
Saturday, 28 April 2012
9.00 am - 5.00 pm

What's the Christian response to the Olympics hitting London in 2012? Is sport a worldly distraction' in the race for salvation or does it offer us a way to celebrate God's good creation?

St Mellitus College are running the God & Sport Conference, which will give you a great opportunity to join with other Christians to hear theologians examine sport in light of their Christian faith. And don’t worry, it won’t all be sitting down and listening - we’ll make sure there’s plenty of time to engage with their thoughts (and lunchtime football anyone…?)

And for all those asking "who will be speaking?", among others, our speakers will include:

Stephen Cottrell, Bishop of Chelmsford

Ed Smith, Cricketer, Journalist and Author of 'What Sport Tells Us About Life'

Graham Tomlin, St Mellitus College

Dominic Erdozain, King's College, London

Andy Emerton, St Mellitus College

Andrew Parker, University of Gloucester

Lincoln Harvey, St Mellitus College

Ashley Null, Humboldt University Berlin

This should be a good day. Hopefully one of the speakers will comment on how brilliant are Manchester United.
